E.P: what is the intention
of establishing this museum?
The intention behind the establishment is to
project the image of the late Afrobeat King, human rights artist, instrumentalist
and great pan Africanist Fela Anikulapo Kuti to the African people, those in
the diaspora and the world.
So that the idea, philosophy and free thinking that he
stood for will not be in vain, and will be known by all who visit the museum,
there are lot of things people don’t know about Fela.
E.P: How has the patronage been?
E.P: How has the patronage been?
Honestly the museum is a busy place due to
Fela’s struggle, and is music.
The museum is fully booked everyday of the week from all
over the world, for example last week we have visitors from Kenya and they also
interview Seun Anikulapo Kuti.
E.P: How is the funding for
the museum generated.
The
building was turned to a museum by the Fashola Administration and it is
sustained by entry fees we generate, that is ₦500 per person, that is how we raise our funds.
E.P: For organizations that
may want to arrange tours to this place (museum) what does it entails.
Our own
normal fee is ₦500 per person even when they are thirty or hundred the fees is ₦500 per
person.
E.P: what has been your experience
been the Manager of this museum.
It is
an experience that I never dreamed of, for instance I didn’t know much about
Fela personally but been the Manager I have learnt a lot about his personality,
dedication to the truth, right of the common man, and superiority of the African
race. It has also helped me in fostering good relationship with certain people
I never knew I would meet, been the manager has also exposed me to further
bring into use my course of study which is Public Administration.
Honestly, without been
immodest it has helped me academically and financially.
