" TOTAL DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION, COMMITMENT AND FLEXIBILITY ARE NEEDED IN DANCE..SAYS MR ISIOMA WILLIAMS .A TOTAL ARTIST....

1. BREIFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF: Isioma Williams is a Total Theatre Artiste and the Coordinator of Gongbeat Productions, worked with the Lagos State Council for Arts & Culture for five years. Started professional theatre in 1987 as the ‘Lead Drummer’ of Akis-Productions Dance Company and later became the ‘Director of Rehearsals’, Coordinated the 1st International Dance Exchange between Odehe Music & Dance company (Ghana) and Gongbeat Productions Theatre company (Nigeria). 2. AS A DANCE ARTIST AND INSTRUCTOR WHAT ARE THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ONE NEEDS TO BE IN YOUR FIELD: Total discipline, dedication, commitment, accommodating and likewise flexible.

3. I REMEMBERED SEVERAL ARTISTS TELLING ME HOW YOU ASSISTED THEM IN GETTING COLLABORATIONS WITH FOREIGN ARTS MEDIUM TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS. HOW DO YOU COME ABOUT THIS? It is by the grace of God Almighty and through the networks God brought my way as a result of years of experience, network and grace. It’s not what I do consciously; it’s part of my being human and I enjoy doing it effortlessly without expecting anything, I don’t even expect appreciation because the best reward or appreciation you can get; comes from God Almighty

4. TELL US SOME MEMORABLE PRODUCTIONS OF YOURS: Quite much but I’ll mention few; very current is when I directed a trilogy (Ayanwunmi, Knife crime and Igbekun) for Osun Arts Foundation a company based in UK; Assistant Choreographer to Sir, Peter Badejo OBE for All African Games (Nigeria); Badejoarts ELEMENTAL PASSION (UK tour) also Music Director of “The Anthem” (a musical stage play); Assistant Choreographer to Koffi Koko and a Performer too with Collective Artistes Theatre Company for 'The Lion and the Jewel' UK tour; National Theater of South Korea residency concert (Musician)

5. HOW DID YOU DEVELOP THE PASSION FOR THESE ARTISTIC UNDERTAKINGS? I think God placed the hunger in me and it developed by implementing and paying attention to it, through continuous learning, constant research and being disciplined too.

6. What is DRUMSVIEW AND GONGBEATS ALL ABOUT? Both are theatre companies aimed at developing and projecting the arts, tradition and culture of our beloved country and continent. I am the coordinator of Gongbeat productions which was formed in 1992, founded by Debo Alexander and consists of trained theatre artistes, practitioners and enthusiasts who have come together to foster the spirit of professional theatre in Nigeria.
I later created and became the artistic director of Drumsview Concept which was established in 2010 as a total theatre company that serves as a theatre academy to train and engage the youths and as well promote and preserve Nigerian cultural heritage. Drumsview has a subsidiary ‘Sights and Sounds de l’Afrique’ a drumming band that uses a fusion of contemporary jazz and African traditional music, in order to create a smooth blend of stage craft and uphold traditional drums and drumming.

7. WHAT NEW PROJECTS DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU? One major project I’m right now craving to bring into existence is the ‘Janggu Drum Festival’ a festival that explores the traditional culture of the South-Korean Janggu drum and Nigerian cultural drums as well as celebrate the quality, uniqueness and similarities. Also as a drum collector, I am working on a ‘Drum and Traditional Rhythm Research Institute’ as well as exhibitions of Nigerian drums and rhythms.

8. WHAT WORD DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE THAT MAY WANT TO FOLLOW YOUR ARTISTIC FOOTSTEPS? “Godliness” is key! And partnering it with “regard for humanity”

9. YOUR PROJECTION FOR THE FUTURE OF ART: sincere ‘Regards and Rewards’ for the true Arts through healthy competitions.

READ OUR INTERVIEW WITH ALEXANDER OSHO CURATOR OF NATIONAL MUSEUM LAGOS

" A MAN WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHERE HE IS COMING FROM DOESN'T KNOW WHERE HE IS GOING TO" SAYS MR ALEXANDER OSHO  . CURATOR NIGERIA NATIONAL MUSEUM LAGOS. ..HE IS ALSO A HIGHLY VERSATILE ACTOR, SINGER,PAINTER, DANCER AND MASTER OF CEREMONY EXTRAORDINARY...
EP/Let's meet you
ALEXANDER OSHO/ My name is Alexander Osho, curator with the National museum Lagos amidst a lot of artistic inclinations I have  been an actor, mc and musician.I have been here since 2012 ,as a curator our job is the total documentation of our artifects in this museum and to enlighten our tourist on the beauty of Nigeria ,Also to ensure that children will come here from different schools are well informed on  cultural diversity of our nation and the beauty that comes from that diversity.
EP/ The museum itself can you tell us about it operations.
ALEXANDER OSHO/The museum in Lagos has been existing for years and we have different people running different sections We have Documentation which i belong to, Education, Exhibition , heritage, research and science basically I will speak for my own department called CURATORS ,one of the things we do is to ensure we partner with the exhibition  staff to put up exhibitions from time to time .If you walk round you will see ongoing exhibitions..I will like to say a big thank you to the United States consulate for giving us this beautiful park which we are sitted here for the interview,
This point is where students come to relax after a tour of the museum.likewise I will like to clear the misconception and mindset of most people that when I come to the national museum am coming to see  late Gen muritala Mohammed car or am going to the museum kitchen.. Beyond that we have a thousand artefacts that are in our storage here that we use from time to time for exhibitions. What am particularly doing is to promote the culture of our people,to make people know that the museum exists to ensure that when people come and embrace the fact that this is where I come from,I am a Nigerian,I am Ibo, Hausa, Yoruba, itshekiri, ijaw,,kanuri, idoma etc .We tends to enjoy culture when we know where we are from like I always say " A man who doesn't know where he is coming from  doesn't know where he is going to" ,so I think history should be taught vin our schools. Tertiary institutions should bring their students here to do research
EP/The national museum Lagos is a federal government establishment what efferts are you making for collaboration with the private sector.
ALEXANDER OSHO/The national museum Lagos is open is very very open to collaboration like this garden was a collaboration with the American Embassy ,so corporate bodies that want to partner with us are highly welcome, also we have an exhibition hall that is open to the general public, contemporary artist are invited to exhibit their works here e.g.painters, sculptures etc
EP/ What are your expectations for the museum.
ALEXANDER OSHO/All over the world museums are funded by corporate bodies,so if we have the likes of MTN coming to do something here, like Globalcom.,also the oil and gas sectors, all the private sector coming to do something here in it's duty of corporate social responsibilities,if there are enlighten that some of this things don't go into extinction as our cultural heritage.
EP/ Tell us about your artistic life
ALEXANDER OSHO/ I found myself doing Arts very well going to do lots of things in the Arts and entertainment scene,i was privilege enough to attend  University of Lagos, studied creative Arts which I did for five years ,I was blessed to have very very renowned people lectured me there like Otunba Tunji Sotimirin, Prof Ahmed Yerima all this people incoculate  a lot of things in me .
Right now i run my show at the freedom park every year  DECEMBER  this year's own is DECEMBER 18th at the freedom park  .It is a blend of Comedy, music and cultural performance .it is called " ALEXANDER OSHO SHOW. Don't forget I also act ( smiles)
You( To the Entertainment parrot) can attest to the versatility of  the show....

" I thought I could join my journalist Experiences with my Artistic Talents to get personal fulfillment" says Edmond Enesiri Enaibe ,Journalist, veteran actor, director and first Director of Jenifa'' s Dairy...EP/ Introduce yourself to our highly esteemed readers .Edmond .E.Enaibe / My name is Edmond Enesiri Enaibe.I am just an actor beyond been an actor I also do some television productions,I produce and direct but before I could use this skills I have to first go to school so I got trained at the University of Ife( now O.A.U) in Dramatic Arts set of 1982 and ever since I have been a class room teacher, a journalist after ten years of journalism practice decided to be a full time theatre practitioner before now my activism in the arts as whole had not only been on stage but also getting governmental recognition for theatre practice and it's practitioners. So I was in the forefront of those that arrange for the formation of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners ( NANTAP).In my journalism years I was a very active member of the NUJ and also saw me becoming organising sec of Lagos Nuj after Lanre Arogundade between 1991/ 92 .EP/ I know you as a journalist then and when I started seeing you on television i said that is another aspect of your artistic brand .Now that passion for the arts after spending ten years as a journalist ,how do develop it .Edmond .E.Enaibe / Well motivation is personal fuilment _ really I wanted to express my talent on stage and television,In graduating I had wanted to work in NTA ,it came out some how I could not get direct employment in NTA because I was fortunate to be born in then mid west ( Bendel state ) so each time we went for recruitment they will say Bendel quota Don full whereas people who do not have your potentials from other states got employed in all ministries.but we still had the opportunity of projecting our passion .So I left journalism to get personal fuilment and thought I could join my journalist experiences with my artistic talents.so when;. became full time actor I was also doing full time consultancy( Journalist consultancy for the arts ) I will consult for theatre Arts companies that had production to do and also go round on how to get publicity for these projects. One if these projects involve doing some charity things you( Entertainment parrot) mentioned FAJ ,Kunle Bakare .One of the collaboration faj and I had in early 1995/96 was with Akeem Shirts a journalist / photographer who runs Arts illustrated who had cancer we formed a committee majorly between FAJ,,Jahman Anikulaoo and I were the three names that was formed to raise funds for the treatment,I was the one doing all the meetings and contracting people and carrying Akeem to the hospital and all that .We were using Fame magazine then to raise some money for his treatment.EP/ I remember you took him to LondonEdmond .E. Enaibe /That was the major event ,when he came back from London we still have to take him U.C.H in Ibadan. The Kate Ambassador Segun Olushola too was chairman of the committee...So what drove us then was the passion instead of living other people's dream .EP/ The Arts is it paying your bills with your passion for it?Edmond .E..Enaibe /Arts pays but it's paying is not one that you will get instantly,it is something that is also planned ..Since I left journalism I have not done any other job except the arts ..The only time that it is paying is when you become a catharlist of reactions not when wait for other people to do and then call you to participate. Our narional experiences have shown that we must have a stream of income, these days I tell them to go into fish farming. Also don't think that person will take care of your interest than yourself I have not done anyother job .Since I left journalism I have written some proposals; which happily yielded some works for instance i did 13 episodes for Efcc sponsored by U.N.D.P. it was called" SCAM FILES" .I also applied like every like any other person. It was shown on N.T.A and AIT.I have also been a director ,you remember I directed " Family Ties" for AK media,I was the first director of JENIFA'S Dairy with Funke Akindele even your Tunde Laoye( to the Entertainment parrot) came to direct it later after I left,I also produced" Neighbor Neighbor" sponsored by golden chance lotto for 3 years which it was on air .shown on Galaxy tv,Sit and Tvc .Now you don't sit in one place to watch a masquerade so that you get full view of all it's actions.EP/Tell us some of your stage appearances because I remember you as "Teacher Choke".Edmond .E.Enaibe/ Yes that program brought me my breakthrough as " Teacher Chike" in "After the storm" it was so popular was on network between 1996 and 97.It was popular people forget the name of soap saying they can't to watch Teacher Chike fortunately LEGEND OF NOLLYWOOD gave me an award at their first ever awards.i have won an award at Basit Theatre awards in Abuja in 1999/2000But the first recognition for Teacher chike ( I got 3:awards) was the inaugurall award for NTA .I have traveled out which is part of what making us to remain..In 1992 we toured Italy with Ben Tomoloju play "Mujemuje".In 2012 we went for cultural Olympiad with two plays Soyinka ,s " The Lion and The Jewel".The second play was Fred Agbyebe's play " The must Dance Naked" all these under Lufodo productions of Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva it was sponsored by Bank of Industry ( BOI) The ultimate for all actors is to work with the National Troupe,I have work with the national troupe with four productions..
